When the cooler nights arrive, remember that your grass (if warm season such as bermuda) will begin it’s process or dormancy which requires a lot less irrigation water than the heat of the summer. In fact, over watering your grass in the fall can cause an increase risk of some specific grass diseases. Again, if you manually water your grass reduce your time at least in half this time of year. If you have an ET system attached to your clock or a smart controller, these adjustments will be made for you. And, if you want to save not only money but ensure you grass is getting the right amount of water, consider a smart controller that takes most of the guesswork out of watering.
